VisualMedia Focus

April 2008

It’s been a while since our last newsletter and we know that Spring has finally arrived when we look out of the window and see 4 inches of snow! At least the weather was good in Dubai where we recently spent a week putting the finishing touches to InterContinental Hotels annual report photography. We’ve also been busy launching our new website which showcases our new range of products including VisClip™, a unique video offering for the pr community. And on that note, we’d also like to welcome Elliot Choueka as our new Director of Video services. Elliott joins us from the BBC where he was most recently a producer/director of The Money Programme. He also brings journalistic expertise to our VisCast™ service, more of which you can read about in this newsletter.

So this is a very small snapshot of assignments we have undertaken recently and please don’t hesitate to contact us for any video or photography projects you may be planning.

Kind Regards,

Digital UK - VisClips™ and Photography

(Click here to see a VisClip™ and some other images from the set)

Our video division was commissioned by Digital UK to produce a series of VisClips™ showing various aspects of digital television technology including the operation of an Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) and the fitting of aerial and Scart leads. As models were used for this, we also undertook some photography at the same time, to maximise the opportunity and make it as cost effective as possible.

IHG - Viscast

IHG – VisCast™ on Expansion in to Emerging Markets

(Click here to see the VisCast™)

In essence, a VisCast™ is ‘business video for the web’ specifically designed to suit a particular external and/or internal audience, as part of any company communication as either a ‘piece to camera’ or a journalist style interview. This example shows Leslie McGibbon, Senior Vice President of Global Corporate Affairs for InterContinental Hotels Group, being interviewed by VisualMedia's Elliot Choueka about IHG's expansion in to emerging markets.

Working with PR agency Haggie Hepburn on this assignment, we were commissioned to produce a complete set of brand imagery to showcase the diverse range of personal finance products that TPF offer. We were also commissioned to produce a series of VisClips™ to accompany the stills which are now being used by the financial online media sites.

ABP

Associated British Ports - Photography and B-Roll

With over 1 million containers passing through the Port of Southampton every year, it is a fascinating location to undertake photography. To update ABP’s stock of images, we were given full portside access as well as a trip alongside the container vessels courtesy of the Harbour Patrol. We also climbed to the top of one of the giant cranes to capture a stunning panoramic view of the container terminal. At the same time, we also undertook B-roll filming of the port in action for provision of footage to news outlets.

Toshiba

Toshiba - Lifestyle Photography

Working directly with Toshiba Mobile, we were asked to produce a series of lifestyle images showing a range of new products in action. This involved assigning models and sourcing a number of suitable locations in and around the London area. Once the favoured images were chosen, we were then able to utilise a bit of Photoshop magic to enhance the screens.

Salamander Energy

Salamander Energy - Annual Report Photography in Indonesia

(Click here to see other images from the set)

Salamander required annual report photography and wanted images to illustrate one of their first active drilling programmes.  The drill site was in shallow water off the coast of East Kalimantan, Indonesia (reached by helicopter) where they were drilling using a barge.  As well as operational photography at the drill site we travelled by boat to a nearby village for some ‘village life’ shots.  We were also asked to get some general landscape images where possible, whilst en-route to the rig/well location. One of our Asia based photographers carried out this assignment and also shot some staff portraiture within the Company’s Jakarta office as part of this four day assignment.
