April 2007


Well spring has definitely sprung and summer has come early.

The months are flying by this year and VisualMedia’s photography and film crews have undertaken assignments all over the UK and as far a field as Nairobi, Mumbai, New York, Dubai, Hong Kong and Tokyo to name but a few.

Our creative services team have also been busy working on annual reports, corporate brochures, websites and other visual communications projects.

Barclays – International Photography and B-Roll

This project stretched over a couple of months and involved assignments in multi locations around the world. The objective was to show Barclays in their international context both with still photography and video. B-roll was then compiled and sent to broadcasters to coincide with their record results and photographs were sent out to the newspapers. The images were also issued with a global license for all other marketing purposes.

Video - Various Projects

National Lottery Commission – Licence Bid

Working with Hill & Knowlton, we were commissioned to handle the photography and filming requirements to produce and distribute collateral about the bids for the 3rd licence to run the National Lottery. Video clip interviews with key NLC personnel were also filmed and encoded for future streaming on the NLC website.

Virgin Media – Global Launch

This multi-million pound launch has been big news recently and we have worked closely with Virgin Media directly and their various PR agencies to provide visual collateral to accompany the launch. Images have also been uploaded and reside online with Virgin Media’s bespoke image library managed and hosted at VisualMedia Online. (http://www2.vismedia.co.uk)

IHG – Re branding of ANA hotel in Tokyo

InterContinental hotels recently signed a deal with ANA hotels in Japan to co-brand a number of properties as InterContinental's. Utilising one of our photographers in Tokyo, Director of Photography, Scott Shillum also flew out to art direct a two-day shoot for this important occasion. Images were used extensively in the Asian media over the course of the following week and also for marketing purposes.

British Potato Council – National Chip Week

To celebrate National Chip Week, we were commissioned by PR agency Symbiosis to provide photographers around the country to cover a series of world record attempts for their client, the British Potato Council. These included; The Worlds Largest Chip Butty, The Worlds Largest Bag of Chips, The Most Portions of Chips Served at One Time, The Fastest Time to Prepare, Cook and Serve a Portion of Chips and The Most Bags of Chips Wrapped in One Minute. All 5 World Records were achieved which was a truly sMASHing achievement.

Annual reports - InterContinental Hotels Group

BMW – Longest MINI Convoy in the World

On Wednesday 28th March 2007, 269 MINIs illuminated Blackpool and set a new Guinness World Record for the longest MINI convoy in the world. UK owners travelled from as far as Croydon and Cardiff to be part of the historic two-mile route and help raise cash for Comic Relief. The record was previously held by the Vancouver MINI club when in 2004 they brought together 195 new and classic Minis.

Cadbury Schweppes – Trident Launch

Cadbury Schweppes, the world’s largest confectioner, recently launched Trident, the world’s fastest growing gum brand, and asked VisualMedia to provide accompanying photography. For those gum aficionados amongst you, Cadbury Schweppes holds the second largest gum share in the world at 26% and has the number one position in 18 of the top 50 gum markets.

And finally…

Thorpe Park – Be Discovered Weekend

Thousands of people went down to Thorpe Park's Be Discovered Weekend in association with PJ Smoothies (6 - 9 April 2007) to have their shot at stardom and to be in with a chance of winning a glittering celebrity VIP prize. Those who believe they have the wow factor, belted out performances throughout the Bank Holiday weekend to the celebrity judging panel, which included Richard Fleeshman, Ben Mills from X-Factor and former Atomic Kitten, Liz McClarnon. There were also performances from the celebrities, including a six-song set from Ben that went down a storm with the ladies and VisualMedia were there to catch all the action.

And finally…

Carbon Trust – Campaign Launch

The Carbon Trust launched a new campaign to encourage all businesses and employees to help cut carbon emissions by installing giant footprints in the City of London and Canary Wharf to catch them on their way in to and from work. Commissioned through their PR agency, Fishburn Hedges, VisualMedia’s photographer was able to get a fantastic vantage point, courtesy of the Reuters building rooftop. We then sent images out to the press helping to achieve several good pieces of coverage.
