VisualMedia Focus December 2005

Welcome to the December '05 issue of VisualMedia's 'Focus' newsletter showing a selection of assignments that we have covered over the past month or so.

As ever we've handled a wide variety of assignments ranging from photographing BT engineers installing communication equipment in the Pakistani earthquake zone of Kashmir, to the launch of a new low carb, low GI sweetener product called 'Perfect Sweet'.

Please remember that we also offer a full idea generation service, free of charge with no obligation, so do call us to discuss any projects you may be planning.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,

Dan Shillum
Director

New research from Woolwich, the mortgage arm of Barclays, has found that homeowners pay a premium for living in quintessential English lanes. A three bedroom semi-detached house located in a 'Lane' is worth on average almost £50,000 more than an equivalent house on a 'Drive', and VisualMedia were commissioned to try and capture this visually. The subsequent announcement captured the imagination of the press with the Telegraph devoting a whole page to it recently.

Yell Group have employed VisualMedia to undertake a raft of new imagery to be used across the group moving forward and to form the core basis of a new media relevant image library consisting of around 100 images to be hosted on VisualMedia Online. We also distributed some of these images out to the national newspapers to accompany their interim results and achieved coverage in a number of publications.

Hargreaves Services PLC, a leading provider of transport and support services to the energy and waste sectors, announced its intention to float on AIM recently. VisualMedia were asked by their PR agency, Buchanan Communications to provide a set of pictures to accompany this announcement and our photographer spent a few hours at their chemical and coke plant in Monkton getting some generic and management pictures for distribution to the press. Coverage subsequently appeared in the FT, Express, Independent and Telegraph.

At very short notice we arranged for a photographer to travel to Pakistan with members of BT's communications team and various BT engineers who were there to install vital equipment in the earthquake zone of Kashmir.

Due to internal transportation challenges in the region our photographer had very limited time in the disaster area, but managed to get a good set of pictures to be used in BT's internal publication, BT Today, and for other press purposes.

This is a good example of using existing photography to accompany an announcement and allowing VisualMedia to re-purpose and distribute images to the press. Gainsborough PR did just this for their client Debenhams who were announcing their annual results. We packaged up a selection of striking catalogue images and sent them out to national and regional publications on the day of the announcement achieving good coverage the following day.
