VisualMedia Focus

July 2007

Once again these past few months our film crews and photographers have been zooming all around the world covering a wide range of assignments for our many and varied clients, including the 40th anniversary celebrations of the ATM for Barclays. Contrary to popular belief, the ATM is a British invention and the world?s first machine was installed in Enfield, North London on June 27th 1967. Another person who?s been zooming around too is our new British Formula One sensation, Lewis Hamilton. Young Lewis is currently leading the championship and Hornby pay homage to him with their new McLaren F1 cars, photographed by VisualMedia for their results recently. Continuing the motor racing theme, we also photographed the legendary race ace Sir Stirling Moss who is lending his support to the world?s first high performance electric scooter, The Maxi.

So I hope you enjoy this Focus update. Have a great summer and we look forward to hearing from you with any projects you may be planning.

Kind Regards,

Dan Shillum
Director

This assignment entailed the shooting and production of B-roll footage for the broadcasters plus audio files for radio stations and provision of archived and new photography to the newspapers and online news sites. In spite of stiff competition on the day of the announcement (Blair resigning, the Sheffield floods, Henman’s victory and Paris Hilton’s bolt for freedom) good coverage was achieved across all mediums. We also produced a 3 minute film for the Barclays website which can be viewed at: http://tinyurl.com/36jb6t

Commissioned by PR agency Hudson Sandler, VisualMedia produced a varied set of images to accompany the AIM flotation of United States-based Vectrix. The company has produced the world’s first high performance all-electronic, zero-emission scooter. Money raised from the float (£50 million) will be spent on marketing - assisted by Sir Stirling Moss - developing a dealer network and designing new vehicles. Taking advantage of our photography and image distribution package, coverage was also achieved in a large number of national and regional papers.

These pictures were then sent to the national and regional press. Hornby’s CEO Frank Martin was featured in the photos holding iconic race cars with drivers, both old and new, including new F1 sensation Lewis Hamilton in his McLaren Mercedes with good national and regional coverage achieved.

Working directly for Ladbrokes, this filming assignment for the world’s leading betting company took place during the month of May. Commissioned by PR agency Hill & Knowlton, working on behalf of their client the Learning and Skills Council, VisualMedia recently photographed 24 finalists in separate locations around the UK. Using our extensive network we were able to assign a local photographer for each apprentice assignment, from Plymouth to Preston, and photograph them in their natural habitat. Many of these pictures can also be viewed on the awards website at:http://www.apprenticeships.org.uk/awards/finalists2007/

Commissioned to do another round of photography for Intel, a variety of set-ups and ideas were discussed before we embarked on some interesting assignments covering various topics. Photographs were required by Intel to show their products being used in a small business context, an IT manager controlling computers, representing freedom & movement and remote working. Our assignments team set about sourcing props and arranging the various locations to make these ideas come to life.

VisualMedia specialise in producing compelling executive portraiture that is a little bit more than your standard ‘head & shoulder’ shots. To this end, we worked with ISIS PR to take pictures of the CEO of their client Redstone Communications. As the company’s technology involves the use of a lot of fibre optics this was developed on as a theme, as well as focusing on their transition from older technology to new.  Pictures are to be used to accompany future editorial pieces.

Using our international network of photographers and affiliated agencies, VisualMedia is able to arrange assignments almost anywhere in the world and quite often at short notice.  For this flotation announcement, we were required to take pictures inside a casino in Athens, Greece. Working with Queenco’s PR agency Cardew, the brief was executed and images delivered back to the UK. The word ‘Queenco’ was then added in post production and images were sent out to international publications on float day.
