Welcome to the October '05 edition of VisualMedia's 'Focus' newsletter highlighting a selection of projects that we have been involved with over the past month or so.

As you may remember from the last issue, the whole country was on tenterhooks awaiting the outcome of The Ashes that you could bet on in a weird and wonderful way with Ladbrokes, more of which you can read below. We've also covered deals ranging from Deutsch Post's takeover of logistics company Exel to Hilton's sponsorship of the McLaren F1 team.

Deutsche Post / Exel - Takeover

VisualMedia was commissioned by M: Communications to handle the supporting photography for this deal, and send images to the press. The pictures were taken during a brief interlude in proceedings on the day of the announcement and then immediately distributed out to global media organisations. Pictures were published extensively in Germany and the UK including the front page of the FT in colour.

Intel - 'Feel Good Drinks' Case Study

This assignment was undertaken for Intel via its PR agency, Catalysis. Pictures were needed to accompany a case-study featuring an Intel client called ‘Feel Good Drinks’ whose mobile sales team use Intel products whilst out travelling around the UK. VisualMedia helped to brain-storm the ideas and the photography was then taken onboard a high-speed train between Paddington and Reading. With a little help from PhotoShop and our very talented studio team, a set of final images was completed for sell-in to the technology trade press.

Land of Leather - Maiden Results

Working alongside Hudson Sandler a set of pictures was produced for the Land of Leather flotation back in July. They were duly re-distributed to the UK press to accompany their maiden results announcement last week and pictures subsequently appeared in the Telegraph, FT and Daily Express.

Ladbrokes.com - Battle of the T-Ashes

In the last issue we mentioned that Ladbrokes.com was offering Mike Gatting and Rodney Marsh a £3,000 charity bet on their respective teams to win the Ashes series. Well we’re delighted to report that a VisualMedia photographer was on hand with Ladbrokes’ PR agency, The Red Consultancy, to record the final humiliation. All proceeds went to The Lord's Taverners who are raising £1m for the ECB's Chance to Shine Programme over 5 years and this picture appeared in the Telegraph.

Hilton International - McLaren F1 Team sponsorship

Hilton International announced its long-term corporate partnership with F1 Team McLaren Mercedes this month. McLaren’s latest F1 car was displayed outside, and projected onto, the flagship London Hilton on Park Lane. VisualMedia was employed to record this launch event and upload images to Hilton’s online image library hosted on VisualMedia Online for use by the travel and motoring press.

Peroni Nastro Azzurro - London Fashion Week

Under the expert guidance of Gabrielle Shaw Communications, their client Peroni Nastro Azzurro transformed London's Millennium Bridge into a catwalk for the first time to kick off London Fashion Week. The all-day fashion event also unveiled Collezioni Peroni, an exclusive, one-off collection designed by some of the UK's hottest up-and-coming designers. VisualMedia was there to record the event and distribute images out to the press, achieving coverage in the Daily Telegraph amongst others.

BT Broadband - Scilly Isles linked to Shetland Isles

BT Broadband brings together two remote UK communities further apart than London and Venice, linking up Baltasound school in the Scottish Shetland Islands - on the same latitude as Southern Greenland - with the Isles of Scilly off the coast of Cornwall. One of our intrepid south coast photographers took a helicopter from Penzance to the Scilly Isles for the day to record the live link up between the 2 schools. The pictures will be used for press purposes in the near future.

Powerleague - Nike Sponsorship

Powerleague - Nike Sponsorship

Powerleague, the market leaders of 5-a-side football, announced their final results and a new Nike sponsorship agreement recently, and VisualMedia were commissioned by their PR agency, Cardew Group to take pictures of the chief executive and finance director to accompany the announcement.

A selection of images was distributed to the press and this picture was used in several publications including the brand-new City AM.
