October 2007

Well it’s been a fantastic summer for us (apart from the weather of course) with photography assignments taking us as far away as charming Chengdu in China to magnificent Milton Keynes in the midlands. Our film crews have also travelled to New York in the USA to Newport in Wales.

The sun certainly shone on the annual Hacks v Flaks cricket event though held in beautiful surroundings near Sloane Square in London and you can read about these assignments and more in the newsletter below.

We will also be launching our new website soon and new products are also in the pipeline, so watch this space and in the meantime, we look forward to hearing from you with any projects you may be planning.

Kind Regards,

Dan Shillum
Director

Umbro Store Launch in China -  Overseas Photography

Working with Brunswick on this assignment, we arranged for our photographer in Chengdu to attend a 2-day event for Umbro to capture the essence of Umbro in China. One day was spent photographing Umbro stores in Chegdu and the next was spent covering a 5-a-side football tournament organised and sponsored by Umbro.  Photographs were then sent back to Brunswick for future use in the UK business press.

Hacks v Flaks Cricket Match - Photography

(Click here to see other shots from this assignment)

A second innings of this glorious Hacks v Flaks cricket match was held in the beautiful surroundings of Burton Court near Slone Square. The weather was glorious and it was a perfect day for hearing the sound of leather on willow – except if you were a Hack of course. Once again a team made up of finest financial PR practitioners comprehensively thrashed the best business journos that Fleet Street had to offer and we were there to record every Googly, Grubber and Golden Duck. More importantly though £46,000 was raised for charity and more details of the charities can be found at http://www.hacksvsflaks.co.uk

Neoware Inc – Infra-red Photography

(Click here to see other shots from this assignment)

Working with Hotwire PR on this assignment, we undertook some Infra-red photography for Neoware Inc. who provide thin client laptops. As thin clients contain no hard drive, fan or moving parts, they need very little power to function. In some cases they can use 90 per cent less power than traditional laptops and computers, achieving a longer battery life and emitting less heat as a result. The Neoware m100 is the first thin client laptop to market and, as the thermal imaging photography proves, is an effective ‘green’ alternative to traditional machines when compared side by side.

Our video division was commissioned by Hill & Knowlton to produce a 90 sec show reel to accompany the NLC Licence bid decision recently. The decision day press conference, held at The RSA house near the Strand in London, was a packed event, and the show reel was played in a loop on two plasma screens either side of the stage. The show reel was put together using a combination of still images and graphics to create a moving montage of the chronology of the bid process. No video assignment is too large or too small for us so please make contact to discuss your requirements further.

G4S – Editorial Photography

(Click here to see coverage and other shots from this assignment)

One of our key areas of expertise is helping clients to maximise their chances of achieving press coverage. With a network of highly skilled photographers, all versed in the editorial process, we can take compelling pictures to accompany an announcement for distribution to the press. Alternatively you can pre-supply us with images to re-purpose and distribute on your behalf, in the right format, to the right people at the right time of day. This was a financial results announcement for a company called G4S that we handled for their PR agency Citigate Dewe Rogerson recently, with coverage achieved in 2 national newspapers.

XLN Telecom – Photo Retouching

(Click here to see how the image was put together)

Commissioned directly by XLN Telecom, we were asked to take a series of shots to accompany an announcement, but to also produce a montage picture showing the 2 main subjects sitting on a huge telephone. The telephone was in fact normal size though and through the wonders of image retouching and the skills of our in-house production team, we created the image you see here on the left. Year of Food and Farming – Campaign Photography

(Click here to see other shots from this assignment)

The Year of Food and Farming is a campaign designed to educate school-aged children about where their food comes from – starting in the field and then following the supply chain until it ends up on their forks. Working with PR agency Blue Rubicon on this, we photographed Hollyoaks celebrity Nathalie Emanuel (who plays Sasha Valentine) on a farm in Cheshire. Pictures will be used as part of the ongoing campaign.
